Erica L. Laipply, M.D.
Erica L. Laipply, MD attended Perry High School in Massillon, Ohio before receiving her undergraduate degree, Summa Cum Laude, in Science from Kent State University in 2004. She graduated from Northeast Ohio Medical University (formally NEOUCOM) receiving her Doctorate of Medicine in 2007. Dr. Laipply completed her General Surgery training at Akron City Hospital and a fellowship in Colon & Rectal Surgery at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan in June 2013. She is certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon & Rectal Surgery. As a member of Summa Physicians Inc (SPI), Dr. Laipply is a member of the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Summa Health Systems, Akron City Hospital Campus. Her special interests include minimally invasive approaches to colorectal diseases, robotic surgery and innovative treatments of fecal incontinence.
Outside of surgery, Dr. Laipply is interested in baking, archery and jewelry making. She has training in classical ballet, tap and modern dance. She once was “Annie” in the musical “42nd Street” trying to dance her way to Broadway before deciding to become a surgeon!
